Nothing to feel guilty about. When our female family members were treating us like shit growing up they didn’t feel guilty about it. My mother is no longer here, but she was an absolute nightmare at times. I’ve already mentioned my other female relatives who put me through absolute hell. Then these same relatives try to do some reachback acting all nice like I’m supposed to just forget all that shit and act surprised they very rarely see me. SMH.
Bad/absent fathers never get a pass. Even GOOD fathers get disrespected in da communitah – they probably have it worse if anything – yet we’re not supposed to speak on the emotional and mental trauma our mothers put us through because you know, Dear Mama is the ultimate sacred cow.
